Diljit Dosanjh extends support to protesting students

Taking to Instagram Stories, Diljit urged authorities to listen to students and address their concerns instead of suppressing their voices. He described the treatment of the protesters as “wrong” and appealed for dialogue.

In his post, Diljit wrote that the “voice of the people is the voice of God” and urged the government to consider the demands being raised by students seeking nationwide education reforms.

The protests have also centred around activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has reportedly been on an indefinite fast and is currently admitted to Safdarjung Hospital.

“I’ll be called anti-national again”

The Diljit Dosanjh NEET protest posts also reflected on the criticism the actor says he has faced in the past for speaking on public issues.

He stated that he expected to once again be labelled “anti-national” for supporting the students. Drawing parallels with his support for the 2020–21 farmers’ protests, Diljit claimed he had faced legal issues and significant backlash following those demonstrations.

He added that although he could not speak publicly about everything that happened after the farmers’ protest, he believed that “God is watching everything” and ended his message by wishing blessings for everyone.

The situation later escalated into clashes between protesters and security personnel, with tear gas and a lathi charge reportedly used to disperse the crowd.
