Diner surprised by crocodile feet dish at Singapore buffet
A diner in Singapore was taken aback after spotting crocodile feet among the dishes at an Australia Day buffet at Marina Bay Sands.
Nikkolette Wee, 33, filmed the item, labeled “crocodile toast” and served with Vietnamese Cham water sauce, during a family dinner at the Rise restaurant on Jan. 25. She later shared the video on Instagram on April 12, according to AsiaOne.

“I was not expecting to see [crocodile feet] at a buffet at Marina Bay Sands,” she said in the video, adding that although she enjoys trying new foods, this was “pushing the limits.”
According to the MothershipWee said she knew about the Australian-themed buffet but did not expect crocodile meat to be included.
She also told local outlet Lianhe Zaobao that she was already familiar with crocodile meat, having previously bought it for her dog, which required a “novel protein” diet due to skin conditions.
“Seeing crocodile feet didn’t surprise me. But seeing them presented in such a way at a buffet was strange,” she said.
In addition to the crocodile feet, diners at the buffet were also served kangaroo meat dishes that evening.
Wee said the taste left her with mixed impressions, adding that the flavor resembled “chicken with a fishy smell.”
“[The dish] was also left on our table for awhile before I figured out which parts were edible so overall the whole claw was rock hard and cold.”
She suggested that restaurants could improve the experience by using other cuts of the crocodile and experimenting with different cooking methods such as braising.
According to the restaurant’s social media, the Australia Day buffet is held annually, and crocodile feet have appeared on the menu in previous years. The buffet was priced at S$124++ (US$97.38) for adults and S$64++ for children.
