DIR AGRI VISIT ALU SMF BOSIAN BARAMULLA

BARAMULLA�बारामूला: Agriculture Director Kashmir Chaudhary Mohammad Iqbal visited Potato Seed Multiplication Farm (SMF) Bossian Baramulla on Sunday. During this, the Director inspected various blocks of the farm and interacted with the technical experts and employees of the said farm. On this occasion, the Director said that for the last few years the department has been working vigorously for the transformation of departmental seed multiplication farms. He said that the department is also trying to ensure that only quality seeds reach the farming community of the area. He said, “We are working on a plan to achieve self-sufficiency in seed production and departmental farms are important in this direction.”

He asked the officials to make all efforts so that not only the local potato requirement is met but also potatoes from Kashmir are supplied to different parts of the country. Director of Agriculture said that the department has strengthened the marketing mechanism of various agricultural crops. He called upon young agricultural entrepreneurs to come forward and take up potato farming on a commercial basis. He said that there is a lot of potential for value addition of this crop. He said that potato would be one of the important contributors to the agricultural economy of Jammu and Kashmir in the coming days.
