Director calls actress Ameesha Patel 'mother-in-law' of Gadar 2, actress raises questions on 'understanding'
Mumbai: Actress Ameesha Patel has reacted to director Anil Sharma's statement in which he said that Ameesha was initially reluctant to play the role of a mother-in-law. The actress said she would never play the role of a mother-in-law. The actress was seen with actor Sunny Deol in Gadar-2 after many years.
The actress shared a post regarding this on Instagram. He also shared a screenshot of the article in which Anil Sharma had made his claims. He wrote, “Anil Sharma ji, I think you have misunderstood the story and climax of 'Gadar 2'. Sakina is only Jeeti's mother, because she was Tara's wife in 'Gadar 1' 23 years ago. Sakina never- She cannot become anyone's mother-in-law, nor will she ever become one.”
In another tweet, she wrote, “Anil Sharma ji, this is just a film. Not the reality of any family, so on screen I have the right to decide what to do and what not to do. I respect you a lot. But, I will never play a mother-in-law in 'Gadar' or any other film, even if I am offered Rs 100 crore.”
He further said, “Anil Sharma, as you and everyone know. I have played only the role of a mother in 'Gadar 2', because I had played the same character in 'Gadar 1' 23 years ago. I am proud of it and will always be so. But, I would like to make one thing clear that I will never play the role of mother-in-law.” After this, the actress talked about fans' love for her character in the film franchise.
He wrote, “Also, Anil Sharma fans don't want to see Tara and Sakina as father-in-law and mother-in-law. They like to see their Tara as just a hero and superhero. Today I am introducing you to Vanvas. Wishing you all the best. It's a special day for you, and I pray for you.”
Earlier, there were reports of some differences between the actress and the director. Ameesha expressed her displeasure over the way Anil's production treated her. But, he also praised Zee Studios for saving the production and helping make 'Gadar 2' a blockbuster.
