It was alleged that under the guise of spa centers, an illegal network of prostitution was operating in many areas of the city. Police detained 24 young men and women from the spot, some of whom were found in objectionable condition.

As part of prior planning, the police simultaneously raided three different spa parlors in Sector-49 area late at night. During the action, a total of 24 young men and women were detained from the spot. According to the police, some people were found in objectionable condition and were brought to Sector-49 police station for questioning. During the raid, many documents, registers and mobile phones were also recovered from the spa centres. Now after examining these documents, other connections of the network are being investigated.

Illegal business was going on through WhatsApp

Noida’s Additional DCP Manisha Singh said that this illegal activity was being conducted through WhatsApp group. People associated with this network used to send photographs of women to customers and invite them to spa centres, where prostitution was carried out under the guise of massage and parlor services. The police have found some digital evidence, mobile chats and registers from the spot, on the basis of which efforts are being made to find out who else are associated with this gang and for how long this business was going on.

Questions on the role of local police also

After this whole matter came to light, the biggest question arising is that on whose instigation was this illegal business going on in a high-tech city like Noida. Questions have also been raised on the role of the local police and the personnel deployed at the outpost level as to why they were not aware of this. Some policemen have come under the scanner and senior officials have taken cognizance of the matter.

Noida’s Joint CP Rajeev Narayan Mishra said that in the joint action of Mission Mukti Foundation and police, 24 people have been detained by raiding three spa centres. He is being interrogated to find out who pushed him into this illegal activity and how. He said that a special team will be formed to thoroughly investigate the entire matter and if any policeman’s involvement is revealed in the investigation, strict departmental action will be taken against him.
