Google has updated its ‘Results About You’ dashboard, which gives you better control over your digital identity. This tool not only lets you know where your information resides, but also lets you send a removal request. What information can be removed? Google mainly helps in removing ‘Personally Identifiable Information’ (PII), such as: Your personal phone number. Home address. Email ID. Government identity card (like Aadhaar card, PAN card) information. Your signature or medical Records.Step-by-Step Process: How to Delete Your Information? (How to use the Tool) Open Google App: Open Google App on your smartphone and tap on your profile photo on the top right. Select Tools: In the menu you will see the option ‘Results About You’, click on it. Dashboard Setup: Here you can enter your name, address and phone number. Google will track this information and send you notifications if it appears in search results. Send a request: If a link is showing your personal information, click the three dots (⋮) next to that result. There you will find the option to ‘Remove Result’. Provide a reason: Google will ask you why you want to remove it (eg: ‘It contains my personal contact information’). Select a reason and submit. Important things you should know Removes from search, not web: Keep in mind that Google will only remove the link from its search results. That information will remain on that original website (Source Website). To remove it from there, you will have to contact the administrator of the website. Track the status: You can see whether your request has been approved or is still pending by going to the ‘Request Status’ tab in the same dashboard.
