Dispute over a Goat Leads to Murder; 2 Members of the Same Family Sentenced to Life Imprisonment

quota. A court in Rajasthan’s Kota has sentenced 12 members of a family, including two women, to life imprisonment in an eight-year-old murder case. The Additional District and Sessions Court in Kota found all 12 members of the family guilty of murder and sentenced each convict to life imprisonment.

The police registered a case of murder on September 1, 2018. A day before this, following a dispute over a goat, 22-year-old Istiaq Hussain alias Guddu was attacked by 10 to 12 people with sharp weapons and sticks. Guddu died in this incident. According to advocate Raja Jameel, who appeared for the victim, the reason for the murder was a dispute between two families over a goat.

Jameel said that the dispute was allegedly resolved and when Istiaq went to the other party for a compromise, they attacked Istiaq who was standing at a nearby shop. These 12 convicts include Ramzani (57), Farzana (43), Mukhtar (31), Mustaq (29), Mubarik Ali (26), Saddam Khan (32), Shaheen Khanum (37), Shahrukh (26), Zaheer Khan (35), Naeemuddin (26), Shahadat (30) and Bashir (32). All were residents of Bombay Yojana. After the court order, everyone was sent to jail.
