Supaul. The district administration has taken extensive steps to overcome the shortage of LPG (LPG) in the district. Under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act 2005, the process of supplying cooking coal through Public Distribution System (PDS) shops to the beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act is being started. In this regard, all block supply officers and sub-divisional officers have been instructed to assess the need and demand allocation.

At the same time, Bihar State Mining Limited has issued a general notice at the state level for the selection of two coal sellers in the district. The district administration was already ensuring the supply of commercial LPG for use in wedding programs, which has now been extended to Shraddha, Mundan, Upanayan and other socio-religious programs. For this, the concerned cooks and caterers will have to register with the oil companies, which will be completed within 5 to 7 days.

Persons organizing the program will have to apply to the Sub-Divisional Officer with information about the number of cylinders required and estimated people, on the basis of which gas will be made available. Special vigilance is being taken in the border areas. Gas agencies and petrol pumps along the international border are being continuously monitored so that black marketing or illegal supply of fuel can be stopped. Gas cylinders of 5 kg are being provided to students, young professionals and migrant workers without address proof.

Around 12,845 gas cylinders are available with a total of 51 gas agencies in the district, while 6,213 additional cylinders are likely to be received. On April 28, gas cylinders were made available to about 5,158 consumers. At present gas is to be supplied to 23,815 consumers as per booking. On an average, domestic LPG cylinders are being distributed to 5,960 consumers every day. Gas is available at 48 out of 51 agencies, while supply is expected soon at the remaining agencies.

Surveillance campaign has also been intensified by the district administration. Till now, the use of LPG has been investigated by raiding 14 gas agencies and 23 hotels/establishments. Three FIRs have been registered on charges of black marketing and commercial use of domestic gas. Supply of commercial gas to hospitals and government institutions is being ensured on priority basis.

Helpline numbers have also been issued for the convenience of consumers. To solve any problem, consumers can contact 24×7 common emergency number 1906, Indian Oil (IOCL) 1800-2333-555, Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) 1800-224344 and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) 1800-2333-555.

Apart from this, a control room has been set up in the District Disaster Management Office located in the Collectorate premises, whose telephone number is 06473-224005. All the complaints received here are being promptly processed. Surprise inspection of petrol pumps is also going on and efforts are being made in coordination with oil companies to maintain normal supply of petrol and diesel.
