A grand district level one-day press conference was organized under the aegis of Supaul unit of ‘Nationalists Union of Journalists’ Bihar on Sunday at a hotel in Bhaptiyahi of Supaul district. Journalists, public representatives and administrative officials from across the district participated in the conference. The main theme of the program was “Changing Times of Journalism and Challenges of AI”.
The program was inaugurated by Nirmali JDU MLA Anirudh Prasad Yadav, Bhaptiyahi Block Chief Vijay Yadav, NUJ Bihar State Secretary Kumar Amar, District President Upendra Chandan and other guests by jointly lighting the lamp. In this conference, from the administrative level, District Magistrate (DM) Sawan Kumar, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sharath R. S., BDO Achyutam Kumar, CO Dheeraj Kumar, and Bhaptiyahi Police Station Head Prajesh Kumar Dubey and many senior officers were present.
Truth and impartiality are the real identity of journalism: MLA
Nirmali JDU MLA Anirudh Prasad Yadav said that journalists are the fourth pillar of democracy and their role is very important in giving the right direction to the society. He said that in this era of technology, the nature of journalism has changed rapidly, but ground truth and impartiality is the real identity of journalism. He called upon the journalists to work fearlessly in the interest of society.
AI can make news faster, but human sensitivity is necessary: DM
District Magistrate Sawan Kumar said that today Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made its presence felt in every field and journalism is also not untouched by it. He said that AI can make news faster and comprehensive, but only a responsible journalist can provide confirmation of facts and understanding of human sensitivities. DM said that we always get the support of media in administration. Whether there is any problem or problem, information is available immediately through media, which is resolved in time. He appealed to the journalists to adopt technology as well as understand its challenges.
‘Fake news’ a big challenge in the digital age: SP
Superintendent of Police Sharath R. S. Said that both journalists and police are accountable to the society. He said that in the digital age, fake news and misleading information have emerged as a big challenge. In such times, the responsibility of journalists increases to deliver only true and authentic news to the public. He said that the police also needs the positive role of journalists so that negative news and rumors can be identified in time.
Pledge of strength and unity of the organization
Other speakers present at the conference also shared their views on topics like the current form of journalism, the growing influence of social media, the credibility of news and the increasing interference of AI. During the program, journalists discussed various local and professional issues and resolved to strengthen the organization.
Journalist honored
In the last phase of the program, the district level journalists present in the conference and the journalists from the neighboring country Nepal were honored with gifts, blouses and certificates. In the end the organizers expressed their gratitude to all the guests, journalists and participants. All the journalists of Saraigarh-Bhaptiahi had an important contribution in making the program successful. The program was successfully conducted by Manoj Roshan. The district conference not only provided a common platform to the journalists, but also gave an excellent opportunity for exchange of ideas and introspection. Hindustan Bureau Chief Ravi Kumar, Dainik Jagran Bureau Chief Bharat Kumar Jha, Amarendra Kumar, Vinay Mishra, Upendra Chandan, Kumar Karan Laddu, Vimal Bharti, Amit Jha, Priya Ranjan Singh Rathod, Sushil Kumar, Dharmendra Kumar etc. were present in the conference.
