Divock Origi becomes free agent after AC Milan exit
Former Liverpool forward Divock Origi is officially available as a free agent after leaving AC Milan, bringing an end to a difficult and unproductive spell in Italy. The Belgian striker’s contract with the Rossoneri has been terminated, with the 30-year-old failing to make a single competitive appearance during the most recent season.
Origi joined AC Milan in the summer of 2022 following the expiration of his contract at Liverpool, where he enjoyed a highly successful stint and earned cult-hero status. However, his move to Serie A never truly took off. Despite arriving with high expectations, Origi struggled to cement a place in Milan’s plans and gradually slipped down the pecking order.
According to reports, the Belgian international had been completely out of the AC Milan project since June 2024. He was excluded from matchday squads and first-team considerations, effectively spending the season on the sidelines.
Origi’s departure means he is now free to sign with any club without a transfer fee, a situation that could attract interest from teams looking for an experienced forward on a short-term deal. Despite his struggles in Italy, Origi’s résumé remains impressive, highlighted by crucial goals in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League during his time at Liverpool.
