New Delhi: This festival of Diwali is just a day away and will be celebrated on October 31, 2024. Needless to say, the festival is incomplete without mouth-watering delicious traditional sweets. One of the most basic and loved sweet dishes is the soft and crumbly Besan laddo. It is a traditional Indian sweet which is made from gram flour (besan), sugar, and ghee, and is a go-to dessert during the festive season. The rich aroma of the roasted besan, mixed with the sweetness of sugar and the flavour of cardamom, creates a comforting taste. One of the major roles in making the Besan Laddo is the perfect ratio of every ingredient.

1 Kg Besan Ladoo Recipe

Ingredients
- 500g Besan (Gram Flour)
- 250g Ghee (Clarified Butter)
- 250g powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder (elaichi powder)
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder (jaiphal powder. optional as per taste)
- 10-12 chopped pistachios or almonds (optional)
- 1 tablespoon milk (optional)
Instructions:
- In a deep pan or kadhai heat 250g of Ghee and let it melt.
- Once it is melted, add the Besan and roast it while stirring continuously until it turns golden brown and starts giving a nutty aroma.
- Remove from heat once it is roasted well and let it cool a little.
- In the roasted besan, add the powdered sugar, cardamom powder, nutmeg powder and mix well.
- Continue mixing it until the mixture starts resembling the breadcrumbs.
- Take the small portions of this mixture and shape them into forming round Ladoos.
- Garnish each Ladoo by pressing chopped pistachio or almond onto each.
