DK Shivakumar’s coronation today in Karnataka, Siddha-Kharge’s sons may get a place in the cabinet

Tezzbuzz Desk- A big change is going to happen in Karnataka politics today. Congress leader D.K. Shivkumar is going to take oath as Chief Minister today. After the resignation of Siddaramaiah last week, the command of the state is now going to be in the hands of Shivakumar. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at around 4 pm, in which many senior Congress leaders and prominent faces of opposition parties may attend.

According to sources, at present a limited number of ministers will be sworn in along with Shivkumar. The party leadership will expand the cabinet later. Brainstorming is still going on within the Congress regarding the second list of ministers and the final approval is with the high command.

There is talk of inclusion of many new and old faces in the new government. There is also discussion in political circles that Siddaramaiah’s son Yatindra and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Priyank Kharge may get a place in the cabinet. Apart from this, supporters of many senior leaders are also trying to ensure a place in the cabinet for their respective leaders.

The picture regarding the post of Deputy Chief Minister in the new government is not yet clear. The proposal to make two Deputy CMs is under consideration within the Congress, but the final decision has not been taken. Some party leaders believe that this decision will not be easy to create a balance between different social classes.

Coming from Dalit community. Parmeshwar and Priyank Kharge are being considered as possible contenders. However, sources say that D.K. Shivkumar is currently not in favor of appointing any Deputy Chief Minister in his government.

The new cabinet includes Krishna Byregowda, Dinesh Gundu Rao and U.T. Names of leaders like Khadar are also in discussion. Keeping in mind women representation, Congress can also induct a woman minister. However, considering the maximum limit of the Council of Ministers, it remains a challenge for the party to satisfy all the claimants.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will be present at the swearing-in ceremony. Apart from this, Chief Ministers of Congress ruled states, Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand and many senior opposition leaders can also participate in the program.

With the change of power in Karnataka, now all eyes are on D.K. Which leaders will Shivkumar appoint in his new team and how will he establish the balance of power in the state politics.
