DK Shivkumar becomes leader of Congress Legislature Party, will take oath as CM on June 3

After the resignation of Siddaramaiah, DK Shivakumar has been elected the leader of the Congress Legislature Party. Soon he will take oath as Chief Minister. Two days ago, on May 28, Siddaramaiah had resigned from his post on the instructions of the high command. In return, the Congress high command had offered him to go to Rajya Sabha. However he politely declined it.

 

After Congress’s victory in Karnataka in 2023, there was a tug of war for the post of CM between DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah. Then Siddaramaiah had won. Let us tell you that assembly elections are to be held in Karnataka in 2028.

Karnataka’s outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah proposed the name of DK Shivakumar as the new leader of the legislature party in the meeting held at Vidhana Soudha. Yes, God supported the proposal. Shivkumar has been unanimously elected leader in the meeting. Congress general secretaries KC Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala were also present in the meeting. The meeting stopped in between for about 10 minutes.

 

Randeep Surjewala and Venugopal discussed with Siddaramaiah in the Chief Minister’s room. Later the three leaders returned to the conference hall together. Where Venugopal announced the name of DK Shivakumar as the new CLP leader.

Now on June 3, DK Shivkumar will take oath as Chief Minister at the ‘Glass House’ located at Lok Bhawan. DK Shivakumar, who was the Deputy CM in the Siddaramaiah government after being elected CLP leader, also presented a proposal. In this, the works and services of Siddaramaiah as CM were appreciated.

 

Let us tell you that Siddaramaiah had resigned from his post on Thursday, May 28, on the request of the Congress high command. However, Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot was not present in the state at that time. On returning to Bengaluru, he accepted Siddaramaiah’s resignation the next day i.e. Friday and dissolved the Council of Ministers.
