DK Shivkumar will go to Delhi amidst the tug of war for the post of CM, what did Siddaramaiah say?
Amidst the ongoing tug of war for the post of Chief Minister in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is going to Delhi. He clearly said that he is going to prepare for a wedding and party, it has no political meaning. But on his visit to Delhi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took a dig and said, ‘He should go, I will go only when called. No call has been received yet.
It has been two and a half years since Congress’s Siddaramaiah government came to power in Karnataka. Meanwhile, there are continuous reports of tussle between the two big leaders regarding the Chief Minister’s chair. However, externally both the leaders are showing good relations. Recently, both of them had given a message of unity by having breakfast at each other’s house in Bengaluru.

What did Shivkumar say?
Before leaving for Delhi, DK Shivkumar told journalists, ‘Today I am going to Delhi for a personal program. There is no politics in this. Siddaramaiah smiled at the journalists’ question and said, ‘Let them go. I will go only when I am called. No call has been received yet.
Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah reached Mangaluru, where he participated in the centenary celebrations of social reformer Sree Narayana Guru’s meeting with Mahatma Gandhi. Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal delivered a speech and later had lunch with the Chief Minister. Siddaramaiah said that if the party high command wants to call him to Delhi, only Venugopal will give the message.

On the other hand, DK Shivkumar further clarified his plan to go to Delhi. He told, ‘I have to go to a wedding and there is a big program of ‘vote theft’ campaign at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on 14th December. At least 300 workers are leaving from every district. Preparations have to be made for this.
Siddaramaiah responded
When reporters asked about Siddaramaiah having lunch with Venugopal, Shivakumar laughed and said, ‘What is wrong if Chief Minister Venugopal meets Rahul Gandhi or Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge?’ On his supporters raising slogans of ‘DK-DK’ at Mangaluru airport, he said, ‘People have been shouting ‘DK-DK’ for ten years, what is new in this? Some say ‘Modi-Modi’, some ‘Rahul-Rahul’, some ‘Siddu-Siddu’. Slogans are raised with love, it should be taken in a positive manner. There is nothing wrong in this.

Overall everything seems calm from outside, but it seems that from the statements of both the leaders it is clear that the internal tension regarding the post of Chief Minister in Karnataka Congress has not ended yet. The series of visits to Delhi and meetings with the high command are continuing. It remains to be seen when and how the party high command resolves this matter.
