DLF chief's opinion to PM Modi, stressed on focusing on infrastructure
New Delhi : Well-known personality of real estate sector, KP Singh has made a request to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has asked PM Modi to do something for the development of urban infrastructure of all the major cities of the country. He has said that the government should constitute such a high level cabinet level committee, which can also help the country's economy to meet the target of 5 trillion dollars.
95-year-old KP Singh has released his second book 'Why the Heck Not?' In a special conversation with 'PTI-Bhasha' on the occasion of its release, he said that the urban master plan should not be for short term but for 100 years. Earlier, his autobiography 'Whatever the Odds' was released in November 2011 by GE's former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer i.e. CEO Jack Welsh.

KP Singh, Honorary Chairman of real estate major DLF, has termed the current condition of urban basic infrastructure as very poor. He said that there is a need to take concrete steps in this direction, because India is growing rapidly and is soon on its way to becoming the third largest economy in the world. Referring to the traffic problems and high levels of pollution in cities like Gurugram, Singh said that these are big issues and I believe that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who holds the highest post in the country, needs to pay attention to them.

He has said that keeping in mind that India is a democratic country and there will be progress, you plan for it in advance. The urban basic infrastructure which is already required for this growth is not being worked on here. He has said that unless concrete steps are taken, the problem cannot be solved. KP Singh said that there is a need to change the way of thinking, which is much younger than that of the 1950s.

In his book he said that there is a need to focus on rapid development of urban infrastructure like roads, sewerage lines and water supply. Singh said that to build a strong nation and become a 5 trillion dollar economy, we must use our collective strength to strengthen the foundation of our cities. We should focus on rapid urban infrastructure development.

He has said in his book that the deteriorating condition of our cities is like a time bomb indicating their destruction. The book 'Why the Heck Not?' It has been written in collaboration with author Aparna Jain and published by 'Penguin'.
