DMK will contest elections on 164 seats in Tamil Nadu, know from which seat Stalin will contest elections

Election activities have intensified in Tamil Nadu politics. State Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday released the list of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidates for the upcoming assembly elections. According to this list, the party will field its candidates on 164 seats out of 234.

Stalin in the fray from Kolathur assembly constituency

Stalin himself will contest from Kolathur Assembly constituency, while his son and state Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin will try his luck from Chepauk-Triplicane seat. During the press conference held in Chennai, Stalin announced the names of many prominent candidates. Former minister Senthil Balaji has been made the candidate from Coimbatore South. Apart from this, former AIADMK leader O. Panneerselvam was informed about fielding him from Bodinayakkanur seat. Other prominent candidates include Mahesh from Kanyakumari, Wahab from Palayamkottai, KKSR Ramachandran from Aruppukottai, Ramanathan from Thanjavur, EV Velu from Tiruvannamalai and Ma from Saidapet. Subramanian is included.

Stalin also highlighted the features of the list of candidates. He said that this time the party has taken care of social and professional diversity. 18 women candidates have been included in the list, while 15 doctors and 29 lawyers have also been given tickets. Responding to the opposition’s allegation, he said that even though DMK has released the list last, their preparation is based on completely new thinking and strategy. He also announced that the party will release its election manifesto on Sunday and a massive election campaign will be launched from Tuesday.

Congress gets 28 seats in alliance

Along with this, DMK has also finalized the seat sharing with its allies. Congress has been given 28 seats in the alliance, which include seats like Ponneri, Erode East, Vilavancode, Sivakasi and Karaikudi. Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) will contest on 10 seats, while Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) has got 8 seats. At the same time, CPI and CPI(M) have been allotted five seats each.

Apart from this, MDMK has been given 4 seats, Indian Union Muslim League and Manithaneya Makkal Katchi have been given 2 seats each. Manithaneya Jananayaga Katchi and Social Democratic Party of India will contest from one seat each. Voting for the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly will be held on April 23, while counting of votes will be done on May 4. The election results will decide the political direction of the state.
