News India Live, Digital Desk: Fasting on Mahashivratri is not only a means of spiritual purification but also of detoxifying the body. But often during fasting, people complain of weakness or frequent hunger. For Shivratri coming on 17 February 2026, we have prepared a list of some delicious and nutritious fruit dishes, eating which you will feel refreshed throughout the day.
These recipes are not only easy to make, but are also excellent for health.
1. Sabudana Khichdi (Bright and Tasty)
Sabudana is an excellent source of carbohydrates which gives you instant energy. Use peanuts and light black pepper while making it. Remember, while soaking the sago, keep the amount of water less so that the khichdi does not become sticky.
2. Makhana Kheer (Powerhouse of Protein)
Makhana is a superfood. Kheer made by adding roasted makhana and some dry fruits to milk will not keep you hungry for a long time. It is better for health to use jaggery or string sugar instead of sugar.
3. Buckwheat or Rajgira Pakodas
If you feel like eating something crispy, then you can make pakodas by mixing boiled potatoes and rock salt in buckwheat flour. Buckwheat has a hot nature, so it is best to eat it with curd.
4. Sweet Potato Halwa
Sweet potato is rich in fiber and vitamins. Boil it, mash it and cook it with some ghee and cardamom. Along with satisfying the sweet cravings, it also keeps the stomach full.
5. Fruit Raita and Thandai
Thandai has special importance in the worship of Lord Shiva. Thandai made from dry fruits and saffron provides coolness to the body. At the same time, raita of fresh fruits (pomegranate, apple and banana) keeps the digestive system healthy.
Things to keep in mind during fasting (Vrat Tips)
Use of rock salt: Always use rock salt instead of normal salt.
