The darkly captivating story revolving around Dr. Gemma Foster, dealing with betrayal, revenge, and broken family dynamics, has hooked audiences since its initial release in 2015. The anticipation for the third and final season has been building for the past nine years since it was confirmed by the BBC, offering even more tantalizing drama, emotional closure, surprise twists, and Gemma’s new marriage and remaining scars from the mind of Creator Mike Bartlett.

On February 25, 2026, the BBC announced that Doctor Foster had been confirmed for a third and final series nearly 9 years after Season 2 ended in 2017.

Following two seasons of the award-winning psychological thriller, produced for BBC One and BBC iPlayer by Drama Republic, Dr Gemma Foster’s story will come to a close with the release of a five-part conclusion.

A date for when the series will be on-air has not yet been confirmed; however, principal photography is scheduled to begin in late March/early April 2026, with production taking place across Hertfordshire.
