The relatives of the deceased made serious allegations against the hospital, the family was expecting the first child.
Ayodhya. A 32-year-old woman and her newborn baby died due to medical negligence after the delivery was conducted by untrained staff at a private hospital in Ayodhya. The woman’s family said that the doctor was not in the hospital during the delivery. He gave all the instructions to the employees over the phone itself. After the incident that took place late on Tuesday night in Faizabad city, the health department sealed the concerned hospital and started investigation. Suresh Yadav told that his wife Soni Yadav was admitted to Maa Parameshwari Devi Memorial Hospital due to labor pain. He said that the treating doctor Anjali Srivastava had initially told him that his condition was normal.
According to the family, the doctor was not present at the time of delivery and the delivery process was performed by a female employee. Suresh Yadav said that during delivery, the doctor was giving instructions to the female employee over the phone. He alleged that after about half an hour, the staff handed over the child and said that he was not breathing. When we took the newborn to a nearby doctor, he was declared dead. When we returned we were told that my wife’s condition had worsened. He was then taken to another hospital, where he was also declared dead. The family accused the hospital of gross negligence, claiming that no qualified doctor was present during the delivery.
Hospital records found incomplete
Acting on the complaints, a team of the Health Department led by Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ashutosh Srivastava inspected the facility. Srivastava said no doctor or trained medical personnel were present during the inspection and a man named Mahesh Singh, claiming to be the hospital manager, was found supervising the operation. Additional Chief Medical Officer said that there were three more women who were delivered through caesarean section. Their care was left to the manager. He said hospital records were incomplete, complete doctor information was not available and medical waste management was also found to be unsatisfactory.
The family was expecting their first child.
The hospital has been sealed and the admitted patients have been shifted to the District Women’s Hospital. Further investigation is underway and if negligence is proved, an FIR will be lodged. Suresh Yadav said that he was married to Soni of Mukimpur, Inayat Nagar in April last year and the family was expecting their first child. Demanding strict action against those responsible, he said that our happiness was shattered due to the negligence of the hospital.
