AIIMS Delhi doctors gave new life to 32 people with indigenous brain stent, dependence on foreign technology will reduce.

NEW DELHI: India will not have to depend on foreign technology to save stroke or paralysis patients. AIIMS Delhi has done such work in the field of stroke treatment, which has created confidence among Indians in the health of the country. AIIMS: The country’s first clinical trial on India’s most advanced brain stent ‘Supernova’ has been successful. Who was suffering from brain stroke. 32 patients were included in this trial, whose age ranged from 18 years to 85 years. Through this he got relief from stroke. Doctors claim that this indigenous stent will reduce the cost of treatment of the patient. Also, faster recovery will also be possible.

Dr. Shailesh B., HOD of Neuroimaging and Interventional Neuroradiology Department of AIIMS. Gaikwad told that a research was done for indigenous brain stent in the treatment of brain stroke. GRASSROOT (Gravity Stent-Retriever System for Reperfusion of Large Vessel Occlusion Stroke Trial) was conducted. AIIMS New Delhi was its centre. Whereas, its research was done in 6 big medical institutes of the country. These include the cities of Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Puducherry. The results of the trial have been published in the international journal Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery.

According to experts, every year about 17 lakh people become victims of stroke in India. Many patients become disabled or lose their lives due to lack of timely treatment. According to Dr. Deepti Vibha, neurology expert of AIIMS, this technology will make the treatment faster. AIIMS will also reduce expenses and provide timely help to more patients.

According to doctors, this technology will be a turning point for stroke treatment in India. This achievement will further strengthen India on the global medical research map. Now we have our own technology, which is safe and effective. Till now, stents used in severe cases of stroke were mostly imported from abroad, which were also expensive. The Supernova Stent is completely developed in India and designed keeping the Indian population in mind. Because in India stroke occurs at a young age.
