Temple authorities have announced a special schedule for visitors to the newly constructed Jagannath temple in Digha on the occasion of lunar eclipse on March 3. In keeping with the sanctity of adoption and religious rules, a temporary change has been made in the sanctum sanctorum and darshan system of the temple on that day. As per the announcement, devotees can enter the temple from 6 am to 3 pm and have darshan of Jagannath, Balaram and Subhadra Devi.
After that, the doors of the temple will be completely closed from 3 pm to 7 pm for the reception rituals. During this period, purification and special religious rituals will be done in the temple. Darshan will again be open for devotees from 7 pm to 9 pm. After 9 pm the door of the temple will be closed after the regular rituals. The temple authorities have requested the tourists from far and wide and local devotees to plan their darshan according to this changed schedule.
Jagannath Mandir Trust Committee Member Radharaman Das said, Digha’s Jagannath Mandir is being blessed with divine blessings for the first time by celebrating Gaur Purnima and Holi after its inauguration. In view of the lunar eclipse on March 3, we have fixed the temple schedule strictly following Vaishnava practices, as observed at Jagannath Temple in Puri and ISKCON Mayapur. We cordially invite all devotees and visitors to participate in the Sandhya Abhishek, Kirtan and Holi festival, so that they may receive the unbounded grace of Jagannath and Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in Digha.”
