Dollar gains over dong – VnExpress International

The U.S. dollar rose against the Vietnamese dong Wednesday morning while hitting a three-month high against major peers.
Vietcombank sold the greenback at VND26,304, a 0.02% increase from Tuesday. The currency gained 0.31% to VND26,777 on the black market.
The State Bank of Vietnam hiked its reference rate by 0.02% to VND25,052.
Globally, the dollar rallied to a three-month high in early trading in Asia on Wednesday, with investors retreating from the euro as the growing conflict in the Middle East sparked fears of a sustained rise in energy prices, Reuters reported.
The U.S. dollar index, which measures the greenback’s strength against a basket of six currencies, was up 0.2% at 99.284, its strongest since Nov. 28.
The euro traded down 0.3% at $1.1581, extending losses into a third day after earlier hitting its weakest since late November.
The British pound slipped 0.3% to $1.3315. Against the yen, the dollar was flat at 157.68 yen.
The Australian dollar was down 0.6% at $0.6995. The New Zealand dollar was down 0.3% at $0.5873.
