Domestic LPG Prices India 2026 Amid Market Changes
The Government confirmed that domestic LPG prices remain unchanged, even though commercial LPG cylinder prices reflect international benchmarks.
Officials clarified that reports of a Rs 111 hike apply only to commercial LPG cylinders, which follow global price movements.
India imports nearly 60% of its LPG requirement, with Saudi CP serving as the international benchmark. While the average Saudi CP rose by 21% from US$ 385 per metric tonne in July 2023 to US$ 466 in November 2025, the Government reduced domestic LPG prices by 22% during the same period—from Rs 1103 in August 2023 to Rs 853 in November 2025.
Furthermore, the effective price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder stands at Rs 853 for non-PMUY consumers in Delhi and Rs 553 for PMUY beneficiaries. This reflects a 39% reduction for PMUY households compared to August 2023, underscoring the Government’s commitment to affordable clean cooking fuel.
Moreover, for FY 2025–26, the Government approved continuation of the targeted subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder for up to nine refills annually for PMUY consumers, with an expenditure of Rs 12,000 crore. To shield households from global price volatility, the Government absorbed losses of Rs 40,000 crore for Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and recently approved Rs 30,000 crore in compensation to ensure uninterrupted supply.
A comparison of domestic LPG prices with neighbouring countries highlights affordability for Indian consumers. As of November 1, 2025, PMUY beneficiaries in Delhi pay Rs 553 per cylinder, compared to Rs 902 in Pakistan, Rs 1227 in Sri Lanka, and Rs 1205 in Nepal.
In addition, consumers received positive news in the clean fuel segment at the start of the New Year. Gas distribution companies announced a ₹1 reduction in CNG and PNG prices in select cities, including parts of Delhi-NCR. These revisions, driven by changes in pipeline tariffs, are expected to ease household and transport fuel costs while promoting wider adoption of cleaner fuels.
