Dominance of Indian players in ICC rankings, Shubman Gill became world number-2 ODI batsman, after 36 years the player of this team created history.

The players of the Indian cricket team have got a big advantage in the latest weekly rankings of ICC. In fact, captain Shubman Gill, who performed brilliantly in the ODI series against Afghanistan, has now become the world’s second ranked ODI batsman. Shubman Gill had scored the highest 238 runs in the series, which had a direct impact on his ranking. He has jumped straight from fifth to number two and is now just 24 rating points behind top-ranked Daryl Mitchell of New Zealand.

Actually, another good news for India has come in the form of Ishan Kishan. Ishaan, who batted brilliantly in the series, has made a huge jump of 21 places. Apart from this, there has also been improvement in the ranking of Indian bowlers. Many players have benefited from the performance of the Afghanistan series, which has further strengthened Team India’s dominance in the ICC rankings.

Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan benefit

The ODI series against Afghanistan proved to be memorable for the Indian batsmen. Shubman Gill performed brilliantly with the bat along with captaincy. His consecutive big innings took him to second place in the rankings for ODI batsmen. Ishaan Kishan also made the fans happy with his performance. He has now reached 43rd position.

Virat Kohli suffered loss

However, Virat Kohli has lost one place in the ranking of ODI batsmen. Due to injury, he was not a part of the series, due to which he slipped from second to third position. Rohit Sharma remains at fourth position. He scored 143 runs in the series and played an important role in the team’s victory. In the bowling rankings, Arshdeep Singh has moved up 16 places to 22nd position. Prasidh Krishna has gained 34 places, while Washington Sundar has also gained 17 places.

Matt Henry created history

This time the biggest change in the rankings of Test cricket was seen in the list of bowlers. New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry has achieved a big position after his brilliant performance against England. He has jointly secured the position of number-1 Test bowler with India’s Jasprit Bumrah. This achievement of Henry is also special because after 36 years a New Zealand bowler has reached the top position in the Test rankings. Earlier in 1990, Richard Hadley had reached this place.

There has also been a change in the ranking of Test batsmen. England’s Joe Root has again become the number-1 batsman by moving up two places. Harry Brook is at second place and Australia’s Travis Head is at third place. In the list of bowlers, Bumrah and Henry are jointly at first place, while Australia’s Mitchell Starc remains at third place.
