Donald Trump : US President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday named Brendan Carr, a senior Republican official in the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), as the new chairman of the commission. The FCC is the agency that regulates broadcasting, telecommunications and broadband in the United States. Brendan Carr is a long-time member of the Commission and previously served as the FCC's counsel general.

Trump said in the statement that Carr “has fought against regulatory laissez-faire that has stifled Americans’ freedoms” and “will end the regulatory assault that has stifled America’s job creators and innovators.” Crippled, and will ensure that the FCC works for rural America.”
Carr said on X (formerly Twitter) that he was “humbled and honored” to take on the role of FCC chairman. He wrote in another post, “We must dismantle the Censorship Gang and restore Freedom of Speech Rights for Americans.”
