“Decide by 8 pm on Tuesday”, Trump extended the deadline, if Iran does not agree then what is America going to do?

Iran War: US President Donald Trump on Sunday extended his deadline regarding Iran by 24 hours and gave a new deadline. He has said that if Iran does not agree to open the Strait of Hormuz, it may have to face attacks on infrastructure on a large scale.

In a brief and cryptic post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump revealed the new deadline as “Tuesday, 8 p.m. (Eastern Time).” This time will be 5:30 am on Wednesday as per Indian time. This means that Tehran now has one more day to move towards an agreement with America.

What will happen if Iran does not do this?

If this does not happen, Trump has already threatened to target Iran’s power plants and bridges, which Iran has called a “war crime.” Even before this, Trump had warned Iran in strong words on social media that if the strait was not opened, he could target the power plants and bridges there. There has been a lot of reaction to his statement at the international level as well.

It is noteworthy that Iran has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz since February 28 following the US and Israeli bombing campaign. This sea route is considered very important for the world’s oil and gas supply. Due to its closure, the fuel and gas crisis has deepened in many countries, due to which oil prices are increasing globally and this is also putting pressure on Trump in the year of mid-term elections in America.

Trump, who stayed away from public programs after addressing the nation, recently gave short interviews to many media organizations. In these interviews, he reiterated his tough position regarding Iran while mentioning the rescue operation of an American airman.

What did Donald Trump say in Interviews?

In an interview given to The Wall Street Journal, Trump said that America is in a very strong position at the moment and if Iran does not take any action by Tuesday evening, then the power plants and bridges there could be completely destroyed. He also said that if this happens, it may take up to 20 years for Iran to rebuild, if it survives as a country.

Was there talk of occupying Iran?

In an interview with Fox News, Trump said that he hoped an agreement could be reached by Monday. He said that talks are going on and there is a possibility of a deal. However, he also made it clear that if an agreement is not reached, he is considering taking action on a larger scale, which also includes taking over Iran’s oil resources.

In the same interview, Trump claimed that he had assured Iranian negotiators “protection from death” and also said that Iran had agreed not to develop nuclear weapons. According to him, there is no dispute left on this issue and most of the terms have been agreed upon.

In an interview given to ABC News, Trump said that this conflict could end not in weeks but in a few days. However, he also warned that if there is no agreement, the limits of America’s action will remain very low and it can go to any level.
