Donald Trump extends ceasefire with Iran at Pakistan’s request

Jerusalem: US President Donald Trump has announced an extension of the temporary ceasefire with Iran, saying mediators are being given more time to prepare for a new round of face-to-face talks between the US and Iran.

Trump made this decision just hours before the ceasefire was to expire. He stated that this step was taken at Pakistan’s request. He added that he was awaiting a proposal from Iran that would include all the points in common and in agreement. This decision has, for the time being, reduced the risk of a renewed war. However, deep differences remain between the two sides. The US blockade of Iranian ports remains in place, and Vice President J.D. Vance’s visit to Pakistan is also currently postponed.

US blockade unacceptable: Iranian Foreign Ministry
According to reports, preparations are underway for talks mediated by Pakistan. However, Iran has stated that no final decision has been made. A spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry said that contradictory statements and US actions have stalled the decision. He also called the US naval blockade “unacceptable.”

The US side canceled its visit to Pakistan
, and Pakistan has stepped up efforts to continue talks. Trump said he extended the ceasefire at Pakistan’s request. He claimed that Iran’s leadership is “disunited.” He said Pakistan asked him to wait so that Iran can come up with a common proposal. However, the US blockade will still continue.

Meanwhile, tensions remain over the Strait of Hormuz
, through which a significant portion of global oil and gas passes. Iran has recently attacked ships in the region, and the United States has also taken action to intercept an Iranian vessel. The situation remains extremely tense and volatile.

The US and Israel launched a war
on February 28, sparking a six-week conflict that severely impacted the global economy. A temporary 14-day ceasefire between Iran, Israel, and the US came into effect in April and has largely held.

The first round of talks failed in Pakistan. Previous
talks were held in Pakistan in April, but they ended without any agreement. The Strait of Hormuz remains virtually closed, and Iran has imposed heavy tariffs on ships transiting through it. The United States has also begun detaining ships at Iranian ports and has even taken action against an Iranian vessel. Iran described this as “piracy.”

Iran’s nuclear program is a major issue in the negotiations
. Iran’s nuclear program is also a major issue in the negotiations. Iran still has enriched uranium within the country, and it claims it has the right to use it for peaceful purposes. The United States and Israel want Iran to completely abandon its nuclear program, but Iran has refused to comply.
