Donald Trump Tariff: Donald Trump’s tariff threat, 100% tax will be imposed on countries imposing digital tax
Donald Trump Tariff On Countries Over Digital Service Tax: US President Donald Trump has given a very strong and big warning to European countries. He has clearly said in his statement on social media that he will not tolerate any kind of tax on American technology companies.
If any country implements such a new digital services tax, America will immediately impose heavy taxes on all goods coming from that country. America will impose 100 percent tariff on the imported goods of those countries with immediate effect, which is likely to trigger a massive trade war.
Trump has clearly said in his warning that many European countries are seriously considering implementing such a digital tax. Some countries have come very close to implementing this new tax very soon, due to which the tension has increased a lot. Trump has clearly said that his trade warning is for all countries and it should be taken very seriously. This new dispute has further deepened the tension in the already existing trade relations between the US and the European Union.
Delay in trade agreement
Last year, a major trade agreement was signed between the US and the European Union under which US tariffs on European goods were limited to 15 percent. European countries had also agreed to completely reduce tariffs on American industrial products to zero. But due to the long legislative process of the European Union, there was a lot of delay in fully implementing this agreement, which has angered Donald Trump. Earlier also he had given a very strong threat of re-imposing 25 percent tariff on certain goods imported from Europe.
Why did the dispute start with France?
At the center of this entire new trade dispute is France, which has imposed taxes on American companies. French President Emmanuel Macron had recently made it very clear that his country will never give in to American pressure and abolish its digital services tax. France had implemented a 3 percent tax on its income from digital services in 2019, which was a huge decision. This tax is on companies whose annual revenue in France is more than 25 million euros and global revenue is more than 750 million euros.
Heavy tariffs on French wines
Last year, French lawmakers had also put forward a new proposal to increase this controversial tax from 3 percent to 6 percent. On this, President Trump had earlier also given a strong warning that if France does not withdraw this new tax, then America will take strict action. The US may consider imposing a direct 100 percent tariff on French wines in response to the dispute. The US Trade Representative Office has also been strongly opposing this digital service tax of France, Britain, Austria and Spain for a long time.

Big American companies targeted
The US administration argues that these digital taxes mainly directly target only American tech giants. Since American companies have a huge dominance in the global digital services sector, imposing this tax on them is being considered a discriminatory step.
With this new and dangerous warning from Trump, the fears of a major trade war between America and Europe have increased rapidly again. Its direct impact can have a very serious impact on international trade and the major economies of the world in the future.
