Donald Trump’s big attack on NATO, calls allies “cowards”

US President Trump has made a sharp attack on NATO allies amid the ongoing tension over Iran and the US-Israel military campaign. He alleged that the countries which have stood with America for a long time are holding back from openly supporting it this time. Posting on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump said that without America, NATO’s situation becomes like a ‘paper lion’.

Trump targeted NATO member countries

In his statement, Trump targeted NATO member countries and said that they do not want to take part in decisive action against Iran, which has nuclear capability. He also claimed that the current conflict has been brought under control militarily to a great extent and the risk is now much lower than before. Despite this, the allied countries are avoiding coming forward, which according to them is disappointing.

Trump specifically mentioned the Strait of Hormuz, which is very important for global oil supply. He said that making this route safe and ensuring the movement of ships is not a major military operation, but a relatively easy task. Despite this, the allied countries are hesitant in contributing, while the same countries are expressing concern about the rising oil prices.

The US President also said that many countries did not consult or participate in decisions related to war, but now they are raising questions about the impact on global markets. After this military operation that started on February 28, instability in international markets has increased, thousands of people have lost their lives and a large number of people have been forced to leave their homes.

Trump calls allies “cowards”

Expressing his displeasure in his statement, Trump even called the allies “cowards” and indicated that America will remember this attitude in the future.

On the other hand, countries like Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Netherlands, Japan and Canada have issued a joint statement talking about ensuring the safety of the waterway, but they also made it clear that any concrete steps will depend on the current conflict situation. French President Emmanuel Macron said that his country is not part of this conflict and will give priority to maintaining international law and peace.
