Vijay Varma reveals Sunidhi Chauhan shrugged him off at Pink screening

Vijay Varma revealed that “pretty girls and their mothers” have confessed to being scared of him because he portrayed grey roles.

Vijay Varma, known for portraying characters with grey shades, recently opened up about how much it bothers him when people view him through the same lens. Vijay attended the grand launch of SCREEN in Mumbai on Friday, where he revealed that “pretty girls and their mothers” have confessed to being scared of him. He first played a “diabolical man” in Pink, which also featured Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. Later, he went on to explore various grey shades in films and series such as Darlings, Pink, and the OTT series Dahaad.

The actor stated, “Lots of pretty girls and their mothers have told me they are scared of me, and it did bother me. The introduction of extremely diabolical men that I played started with Pink. It was a minor part, but I remember it vividly because it was an all-women screening. All the actresses were present, and I recall seeing people I had only watched on screen before.”

Vijay Varma shared his experience of meeting singer Sunidhi Chauhan at the screening of Pink. He mentioned that after the movie, some attendees were in tears. The actor said, “Before the screening, everyone was happy, but by the end, some were crying, and some didn’t want to leave. I tried to console Sunidhi Chauhan, but she told me, ‘Don’t come near me. I’m very scared of you.’ I was like, ‘Oh my God, what just happened?’ Then the director pulled me aside and told me I did a good job.”

Vijay got his big breakthrough when he featured in the Ranveer Singh-starrer Gully Boy, portraying the role of Moeen. The film brought him significant attention, and he never looked back.

Following that, he gained recognition for portraying intense characters in projects such as Darlings (2022), She, Mirzapur, and the series Dahaad (2023), where he played a serial killer. His performances in these roles have firmly established him as a rising star in the industry.

Vijay was recently seen in the Netflix series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. On the personal front, the actor often makes headlines when he steps out with his girlfriend, Tamannaah Bhatia.
