Don’t forget these things while using geyser, small carelessness can cause big loss

Geysers become an important part of household needs during the winter season. Whether it is washing hands or taking a bath, the availability of hot water makes life comfortable. But with this convenience also comes a hidden danger, which people often ignore. According to latest expert reports, misuse of geysers significantly increases the risk of accidents. In such a situation, it is necessary for users to adopt some important precautions.

The first and foremost advice is to get the geyser serviced regularly. Many people do not pay attention to the care of their water heating equipment, due to which the calcium and magnesium scale deposited inside starts affecting the heating coil. This not only increases electricity consumption but also causes geyser malfunction and safety risks. Experts say that it is mandatory to get servicing done every six months.

The second important thing is to control the temperature. Often people forget to keep the geyser on high-temperature mode, due to which the water becomes extremely hot. Many accidents are related to such burning cases. It is advisable to keep the temperature of the geyser between 45–55 degrees Celsius. This level is considered safe and comfortable for bathing.

The third and very important precaution is not to leave the geyser running for too long. Many people turn on the geyser and get busy in other work. This puts additional stress on the device and increases the risk of overheating. In many incidents, overheating has led to geyser explosion. In such a situation, it is safe to turn on the geyser 5–10 minutes before using water.

The fourth mistake that people usually make is touching the geyser and electric switch with wet hands. Moisture is already present in the bathroom, in such a situation electrical contact can lead to serious accidents. Experts recommend that the geyser switch should always be outside the bathroom and should be operated with dry hands only.

Apart from this, it is important to take special care of ventilation while using gas geysers. Running a gas geyser in a closed bathroom can increase the level of carbon monoxide, which can prove to be extremely dangerous. This gas is odorless and one may suddenly feel dizzy or faint. Therefore, gas geysers should be used only in places with good ventilation.
