But do you know that this same leftover dal can transform your boring breakfast into a wonderful ‘weekend special’ menu? This Saturday and Sunday, bring a little twist to your cooking skills and prepare these 5 tasty recipes from leftover dal, eating which no one will be able to recognize that they are made from stale dal.
1. Crispy Dal Missi Paratha
The best use of leftover dal is in making parathas.
How to make: Mix remaining lentils, finely chopped onion, green chillies, green coriander, a little celery and light salt in wheat flour and knead it. Remember that lentils already contain salt, so be careful. Bake its crispy parathas and serve with butter or mango pickle.
2. Crispy Dal Ki Puri
If you want to keep your Sunday breakfast a little heavy and royal, then dal puris are the best option.
How to make: Mix some semolina, remaining pulses and spices in the flour and knead a stiff dough. Fry its hot puris. These puris are more crispy and rich in protein than ordinary puris. Serve it with potato curry.

How to make: Add some gram flour or semolina to the remaining dal and prepare a thick batter. Add vegetables of your choice like carrots and capsicum to it. Make cheelas by applying light oil on the pan or prepare small appes by placing them in an appe stand.
