Aditya Dhar’s statement on the Sikh controversy of ‘Dhurandhar The Revenge’
Ranveer Singh’s film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ (Dhurandhar: The Revenge) is making huge money at the box office. The film has collected around Rs 1000 crore worldwide, while its net collection in India has reached above Rs 700 crore. This film, released at Pan India level, has been liked very much by the audience across the country. People have given very positive opinion about the film and it is getting good response. However, after the release of the film, a controversy also arose.
In this, Ranveer Singh’s character was shown smoking a cigarette in Sardar (Sikh look with turban), due to which there was a lot of trolling. Many people objected to this scene and some even threatened legal action. This controversy increased because Ranveer Singh is playing the role of an Indian agent in the film, who belongs to an army family of Punjab. His character Hamza Ali infiltrates Pakistan by posing as Mazari. Many people of the Sikh community were angry with this scene.
What was Aditya Dhar’s statement?
Now the film’s director Aditya Dhar has issued his official statement on this controversy. He shared a post on his Instagram and X account. Aditya Dhar wrote, ‘I want to wholeheartedly thank the audience across the country and the world who have given so much love and support to ‘Dhurandhar The Revenge’. I am very grateful and indebted to all of you. But I am saddened to know that some people are misusing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to make changes in the official promotional material of the film. They are spreading false and misleading information by arbitrarily changing photos and visuals.
Don’t fall victim to fake news
He further said, ‘In one such fake and created image, Jaskirat’s character is shown wearing a turban and smoking a cigarette. I want to say clearly that this is completely false. This image is not part of the film nor was it in any official material released by us. It has been deliberately created and spread in a wrong way, the purpose of which is to provoke people and cause mischief. I want to say this very clearly that I respect the Sikh community very much. Every character in the film has been shown with great sensitivity, respect and responsibility. Any attempt to send a wrong message by manipulating it in any way is done with absolutely wrong intentions and is dishonest. I request all the viewers with folded hands to trust only the official content. See the film from the same point of view as its real purpose is. Please do not fall victim to these false and misleading news generated by AI. We will deal strictly with such wrongdoings.
