Double attack of fog and cold in North India, cold breaks records in Delhi-NCR

North India is currently in the grip of severe cold. The effect of cold wave continues and people are facing severe cold. The temperature dropped further in the morning during the festival of Makar Sankranti. The minimum temperature in Delhi on Tuesday (January 13) was 3 degrees Celsius, which was the coldest January morning in the last three years. Cold has reached record levels not only in Delhi but in many states of North India.

 

The temperature in Noida dropped by 2 degrees. According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of cold wave will continue for the next few days in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and hilly states.

Mercury dropped in Delhi-NCR

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Safdarjung was 3 degrees, which is 4.4 degrees below normal. A temperature of 4 degrees was recorded in Palam and 3 degrees in Lodhi Road. The department has also expressed the possibility of cold wave on January 14. There may be light clouds due to the effect of western disturbance.

 

 

Meanwhile, the level of pollution has also increased. According to CPCB, AQI was recorded at 360 at 4 pm on Tuesday, which falls in the ‘very poor’ category. Air quality may remain poor at present, although relief is expected due to rain.

A warning of moderate to dense fog has been issued in Bihar for the next 3-4 days. On January 13, an increase in the minimum temperature and a fall in the maximum temperature was recorded. The lowest temperature in the state was recorded at 5.9 degrees in Sabour of Bhagalpur and the highest at 25.6 degrees in Kishanganj. There is no possibility of major changes in the weather in the next few days.

 

 

Cold havoc in Jharkhand

There is a possibility of severe cold in Jharkhand also for the next few days. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert regarding cold wave in 13 districts on January 14. The minimum temperature is expected to be below 10 degrees in all the districts of the state.

Possibility of snowfall in Himachal

There may be light rain or snowfall in some areas in Himachal Pradesh between January 16 and 18. A yellow alert has been issued regarding dense fog in the lower Himalayan regions, while a warning of heavy cold wave has been issued in Chamba.

 

 

According to the Meteorological Department, westerly winds are blowing in North India and western disturbance is active. Due to this it may remain cloudy. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in the plains and snowfall in the hilly areas.
