News India Live, Digital Desk: The weather has suddenly taken a U-turn amidst the scorching heat in Uttar Pradesh. Due to the activation of a powerful Western Disturbance, the weather pattern has completely changed in many parts of the state. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy rain and hailstorm with thunderstorms in many districts of Western and Central Uttar Pradesh for the next 24 to 48 hours. The harshest form of weather can be seen on April 4 and April 5, due to which the mercury is likely to fall.
Hail hits Western UP, crops standing in fields in danger
According to meteorologists, the direct impact of this disturbance that came via Afghanistan and Pakistan is visible in districts like Saharanpur, Meerut, Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar and Ghaziabad. Since Saturday evening, there have been reports of dust storm along with rain and hailstorm in these areas. This season is no less than a disaster for the farmers, because the time of harvesting of wheat and mustard is going on. Due to sudden hailstorm, the fear of crop damage and getting wet has increased, due to which the year’s hard work of the food provider can be ruined.
Temperature dropped by 5 degrees, relief from heat wave
While on one hand this rain has brought worry to the farmers, on the other hand the general public has got a great relief from the scorching sun and humidity. Due to cold winds and rain, the maximum temperature of the state has dropped by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius. In cities like Lucknow, Kanpur and Prayagraj, the sky is covered with clouds, due to which the weather remains pleasant even during the day. However, the Meteorological Department says that this relief is temporary and after April 10, the heat will once again show its strength.
Administration alert: Challenge of power cuts and waterlogging
In view of the bad weather, the local administration has also geared up. Precautionary power cuts are being made in many areas due to the possibility of trees falling and power lines being damaged due to strong winds (50-60 km/hour). Municipal corporation teams of the city have been instructed to remain deployed in sensitive areas prone to waterlogging. The Meteorological Department has advised people to stay away from mud houses, trees and electric poles during inclement weather and take shelter in safe places.
