Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz is set to make an emotional return to Aston Villa after reaching a verbal agreement with Juventus over a loan move, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 25-year-old has agreed personal terms to rejoin Villa on a paid loan deal that will run until June, with an option to buy included in the agreement. The transfer is expected to be completed imminently, marking a swift comeback for the midfielder who previously enjoyed a successful spell at Villa Park.
Talks between the two clubs intensified last week and progressed quickly, with Juventus giving the green light for Luiz’s temporary departure. The midfielder is now expected to leave his current club immediately and complete the formalities of his move back to the Premier League side.
Douglas Luiz originally made his name at Aston Villa between 2019 and 2024, becoming a key figure in the club’s midfield with his composure, passing range, and ability to score from distance and set pieces. His performances were instrumental in Villa’s push for European qualification, which eventually earned him a move to Juventus in the summer.
