Drama like T20 World Cup in FIFA World Cup 2026, this country refused to play in America due to security reasons
A new controversy has arisen regarding the organization of FIFA World Cup 2026, which had earlier come to light after Bangladesh refused to come to India for Cricket World Cup 2022 due to security reasons. This time, Iran’s football team has asked FIFA to shift its matches to some other country, citing security concerns regarding its matches to be held in America.
According to Iranian football officials, the safety of their team’s players could be at risk due to rising military tensions and recent attacks in the US. After this, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum took a big step and said that if FIFA wants, Mexico is ready to host Iran’s matches and the country has no problem with it.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be hosted by three countries for the first time—the United States, Mexico, and Canada, and some of Iran’s matches were to be played in different cities in the Americas. Iran believes that along with security, visa regulations, travel restrictions and the political environment could also be a cause for concern, which could impact the team’s preparations and participation in the tournament.
However, FIFA has not yet given any official statement on this matter and the schedule, stadium and ticketing of the matches have already been decided, due to which it will not be easy to shift any match to another country. If Iran’s concerns are not resolved, there is a possibility that they may reconsider participation in the tournament.
