Mumbai:- Every person dreams of having his own house. Especially people who migrate from villages and come to cities for jobs and business, do long planning to buy a house, only then their dream of buying a house is fulfilled. But in this era of inflation, buying a house in cities has become out of reach of the people.

However, governments are providing houses to people in cities at affordable rates under various housing schemes, which is giving middle class people a chance to realize their dream of buying a house.
CIDCO is building 26,000 flats
In this series, Maharashtra's Urban and Industrial Development Corporation has announced the prices of 26,000 houses under its affordable housing scheme My Preferred CIDCO Home in Navi Mumbai. Due to the overwhelming support received from the people, the deadline to apply for this scheme designed to provide housing to economically weaker sections and low income groups was extended thrice. The last date to apply online is 10th January.

Housing projects in nine areas

These housing projects of CIDCO are spread across nine major nodes of Navi Mumbai, which include Vashi, Bamandongri, Kharghar, Taloja, Mansarovar, Khandeshwar, Panvel, Kalamboli and Kharkopar. CIDCO's initiative is aligned with its objective of providing affordable housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

Flats are available in two categories

CIDCO has classified the houses into EWS and LIG categories. EWS category flats are for individuals with annual income up to Rs 6 lakh, prices of these flats range from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 48 lakh. While the annual income of individuals applying for the LIG category has been set at more than Rs 6 lakh, the prices of these flats range between Rs 34 lakh to Rs 97 lakh.
After the announcement of prices of flats, CIDCO has expressed hope of a surge in applications. Because prices were not disclosed initially, many applicants adopted a 'wait and see' approach. A CIDCO official says, “We are expecting a large number of applications from the public in the coming days.
