Drew McIntyre Personal Life
Drew McIntyre grew up in Prestwick, Scotland, and his personal life was strongly shaped by his family, especially his mother Angela. Even though he plays a villain in WWE, he has always said his mum was his real hero.
Angela suffered from a rare brain condition called cerebellar ataxia, which affected her ability to walk and live normally. Despite this, she stayed positive and kept going with life. Later, she also battled cancer and passed away in 2012 at the age of 51.
As a teenager, Drew wanted to become a WWE superstar, something very rare for someone from Scotland at that time. Many people thought it was impossible, but his parents supported him as long as he focused on school. He studied criminology at Glasgow Caledonian University while also training and wrestling in smaller Scottish promotions.
Drew McIntyre Contract
Drew McIntyre is currently under a long-term contract with WWE, so he is not leaving the company anytime soon.
He signed a contract extension in 2024, and reports say the deal is worth millions of dollars per year. There is still around two and a half years left on it, which means it will likely run until 2028, possibly around WrestleMania 2028.
There was some outside interest from Juggalo Championship Wrestling, where Vince Russo publicly offered to bring him in once he becomes a free agent. But since Drew is locked into his WWE deal for the next few years, that move is not possible right now.
