Drug Price Control: Prices of 39 essential medicines fixed, medicines for many diseases including BP-Diabetes will be available at cheaper rates.

Giving relief to the patients, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has fixed the retail price of 39 new drug formulations. in these high blood pressure These include medicines used in the treatment of high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV, heart disease and eye infection. After the prices fixed under the Drugs (Price Control) Order-2013 (DPCO-2013), now patients will be able to get these medicines at the prescribed maximum rate.

According to NPPA, the maximum price of combined tablet of Amlodipine, Bisoprolol and Telmisartan has been fixed at Rs 14.74 per tablet. Whereas Nepafenac and Moxifloxacin eye drops will be available at a maximum price of Rs 68.64 per ml and Clopidogrel, Aspirin and Atorvastatin capsules will be available at a maximum price of Rs 6.37 per capsule.

Price list will have to be posted at drug stores

NPPA has directed all drug retailers and dealers to display the price list received from the manufacturing companies at a place in the shop where customers can easily see it. Supplementary price list will also have to be displayed if necessary.

Action will be taken on recovery of excess price

The authority has clarified that if any manufacturer or marketing company charges more than the fixed price, then action will be taken against it under DPCO-2013 and Essential Commodities Act-1955. The extra recovered amount will have to be deposited along with interest.
