Drug smugglers are in trouble, Home Minister Amit Shah will expose them, what is going to happen?
New Delhi: The government has increased its activism regarding the increasing drug smuggling in the country and its impact on national security. A regional conference on drugs trafficking and national security will be organized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Delhi on January 13, which will be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The conference will focus specifically on combating drugs in eight states and union territories of North India.
Drugs worth crores of rupees will be destroyed
According to the information given by the Home Ministry, under this special campaign running from January 11 to 25, 44,792 kg of drugs worth Rs 2,411 crore recovered through various means will be destroyed. The Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has adopted a zero tolerance policy against drug smuggling and has pledged to make the country drug-free by 2047. The conference will be attended by Governors, Lieutenant Governors, Chief Ministers, and senior officials of other concerned agencies from eight states. During this time, the new office of Bhopal Zonal Unit of NCB will also be inaugurated, along with the launch of MANAS-2 helpline in all the states and union territories.
Discussion will be held on MANAS portal
The conference will have a special discussion on the 'MANAS' portal, real-time information sharing with the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the States and Union Territories and review of the progress of the States against drug trafficking. Also the functioning of the Narcotics Coordination Mechanism (NCORD), improving the efficiency of state forensic laboratories and setting up of special NDPS courts for speedy disposal of drugs related cases will also be discussed.
