Khadda (Kushinagar) These days, the area of BSNL office and country liquor shop located right in front of Khadda Tehsil Gate is becoming a den of alcoholics instead of a public place. Ignoring the rules and regulations, the sale and open consumption of liquor starts from 8 in the morning, due to which the movement of common people is being disrupted.
According to the local people, there is a BSNL office next to the country liquor shop near Kashiram residence in front of the Tehsil complex at Khadda Subhash Chowk. Right in front of it, there is a snack shop, where a crowd of drunkards starts gathering from early morning. According to reliable sources, students going for coaching have to face a lot of difficulties during this period.
After a few hours, it is time for the schools to open, which further increases the problems of the school children passing through the same route. The number of drunkards increases as the day progresses, making the environment unsafe.
The matter is not limited to this. There is a gathering of drunkards throughout the day at the liquor shops located just in front and next to the Tehsil gate. Tehsil employees, advocates, complainants and common citizens travel through this route every day. Police officers of Khadda police station also pass through this route, despite this no effective action is being taken against illegal activities.
By evening the situation becomes more frightening. Due to the crowd of drunkards, there is jam on the road, due to which there is a possibility of accident. Many times two-wheeler drivers and pedestrians have been seen falling.
Local citizens say that this situation not only raises questions on law and order but also exposes administrative apathy. It is a common discussion among the people that why the responsible officials are not paying attention to this serious problem.
The residents of the area have demanded from Tehsil in-charge Khadda Read and concerned officials that there should be an immediate ban on alcohol consumption in public places, liquor shops should be removed and strict action should be taken against those selling liquor against the rules, so that students, employees and common citizens can get relief.
