New disease of today’s digital and air condition era – Obnews
Today’s fast-changing lifestyle and increasing use of digital devices has seriously affected our eyes. Experts say that habits like air conditioners (AC) and mobile phones are reducing the natural moisture of the eyes, due to which the problem of dry eyes is increasing rapidly.
The balance of eye moisture is very important for our health. It not only keeps vision clear, but also protects from infection and irritation. According to doctors, continuous use of air conditioners and the habit of looking at mobile, laptop or tablet screens for long periods of time rapidly reduces the natural moisture of the eyes.
Relation between air conditioner and eyes
The cold and dry air flow of AC takes away moisture from the surface of the eyes. Staying in an air conditioned room for a long time causes problems like irritation, itching and redness in the eyes. Experts say that do not let the AC be directed directly at the eyes and step out of the room from time to time to rest the eyes.
Impact of mobile and digital devices
Continuously looking at mobile phones, laptops and TV screens reduces the rate of blinking. This has a direct effect on the moisture of the eyes. Continuous viewing of screens increases eye problems like fatigue, irritation and blurred vision. Doctors recommend that every 20-30 minutes, take your eyes off the screen and focus on something in the distance for 20 seconds. This is called the ’20-20-20 rule’.
What to do?
Artificial drops (eye drops) can be used to maintain eye moisture.
Drinking enough water and using a humidifier is beneficial to maintain humidity in the room.
It is very important to reduce screen time and give regular rest to the eyes.
Experts say that if the problem of dry eyes is ignored, it can lead to reduced vision and other serious eye diseases. Therefore, it is important to be careful while using digital devices and AC continuously.
