DU said that the safety of students and teachers is its top priority. According to the university, the demonstrations at Jantar Mantar are controlled under the directions of the Supreme Court and any illegal gathering without permission can lead to legal action. The university said in its advisory that participating in such demonstrations can adversely affect the safety of students as well as their academic future and career.

Advice to avoid rumors

DU has also advised students to be cautious about the misleading information spreading on social media. The university said that fake and misleading news is being circulated with the aim of spoiling the atmosphere. Students have been appealed to follow the law and concentrate on their studies without being influenced by any rumour.

Appeal to Sonam Wangchuk to end her fast

The university has also requested social activist Sonam Wangchuk to end her fast in the larger interest of the students. DU said that the future of students is the future of the country and it is everyone’s responsibility to maintain peace and harmony.

Welcome the decision of fast-track courts

Delhi University welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of setting up fast-track courts for speedy trial of paper leak cases. The university says that this will lead to prompt action against the culprits and will strengthen the faith of the youth in the justice system.

Controversy over social media posts of colleges

Meanwhile, controversy has also arisen over the social media activities of some colleges of the university. According to the information, a section of students and teachers objected to some college principals sharing posts in support of the Union Education Minister.

It was told that after the controversy escalated, Rajdhani College removed the post from its official social media account and also publicly expressed regret. At the same time, posts related to education policy and support of the Education Minister are said to be still present on the social media account of the Principal of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College.

Teachers expressed objection

Abha Dev Habib, faculty member of Miranda House, said that educational institutions should avoid taking sides in political disputes. According to him, the protesting students want clear answers to their questions and the university administration should focus on addressing their academic concerns and uncertainty about their future.
