Dubai became a ghost town. Due to fear of war, the rich left the desert city, lakhs of forced Indian laborers were left behind.

News India Live, Digital Desk: The city which was known for its glitz, skyscrapers and ‘that never sleeps’ nightlife, is now silent there. The war between Iran and America-Israel in West Asia has changed the picture of Dubai. Till yesterday, this city which was considered to be the safest ‘safe haven’ of the world, now looks like an empty desert. Exodus of the rich: Helplessness of chartered flights and pets According to the latest reports, rich expats (foreign residents) and tourists from western countries living in Dubai are leaving the city in large numbers. The situation is so serious that: Competition for chartered flights: Rich people are returning to their countries on private planes after paying huge sums. Silence on the streets: Jumeirah Beach, beach clubs and luxury restaurants are completely deserted. Helpless pets: In a hurry to leave the city, many people have been forced to leave their pets on the streets or in shelter homes. Trapped ‘blue collar’ workers: Lakhs of laborers from India, Pakistan and Nepal. The darkest aspect of this ’empty’ picture of helpless Dubai are the lakhs of laborers who are stranded here for their livelihood. No option: While the rich left by taking flights, taxi drivers, construction workers and hotel staff from India, Pakistan and Nepal are forced to stay here. Economic hit: Due to the collapse of tourism, the earnings of these laborers have stopped. Many factories are closed and workers have been sent on leave without pay. Concern about returning home: Due to severe shortage of flights and skyrocketing prices of tickets, these workers are not able to return to their homes even if they want to.
