Director General of RTA Mattar Al Tayer Confirmed that the project is progressing as per schedule. About 20% work has been completed so far and it is expected to reach 30% by the end of 2026. The estimated cost of this entire project is 20.5 billion dirhams (about 5.6 billion dollars).
Dubai Metro Blue Line will be operational on 9 September 2029. This date has been chosen because on this day it will be 20 years since the original Dubai Metro opened. This line will be a total of 30 kilometers long, out of which 15.5 kilometers will be underground and 14.5 kilometers above. There will be a total of 14 stations, out of which three will be interchange stations.
The biggest advantage of this line will be that people will be able to reach Dubai International Airport in just 20 minutes. Also, it is expected to reduce the traffic pressure on the roads by 20%. The contract to build this project has been awarded to Mapa-Limak-China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) and AtkinsRealis and Parsons Corporation are looking after the management. About 10,000 engineers and laborers are engaged in this huge work, who are being supervised by 180 railway experts.
