Due to increase in pollution, there has been a huge jump in the sales of air purifiers by such a percentage, alarm bells for the people of Delhi.

New Delhi : The demand for air purifiers has increased as the air quality in New Delhi has reached critical levels. The air condition in the Delhi-NCR region continues to be in the news, with companies like Kent RO Systems, Xiaomi and LG Electronics India reporting up to 50 per cent increase in sales of air purifiers during the festive season.

With the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching dangerous levels, there has been a significant increase in the sales and inquiries of air-purifiers in the last few weeks. Experts believe that further increase in AQI in the coming weeks will further accelerate sales.

Sanjay Chitkara, senior vice president, LG Electronics India, said, “Delhi is facing its worst pollution phase, due to which the demand for air purifiers has suddenly increased.” Mahesh Gupta, chairman, Kent RO Systems, also said that there is a significant increase in sales of air purifiers and filters in winter, which coincides with the decline in air quality.

During festivals, sales increase by about 20-25 percent due to increased consumer awareness. Xiaomi spokesperson said that due to increasing pollution, consumers in the northern region are becoming more sensitive to health and clean 'indoor' environment, due to which the sales of air purifiers have increased by 50 percent compared to last month.

According to a report by EMR, the air purifier market in India is projected to grow to Rs 777.75 crore in 2023, and the market is projected to grow at an annual rate of 16.30 percent between 2024 and 2032.
