Dutch and Razzlekhan adds Gabriel LaBelle and Isabela Merced to star opposite Chloë Grace Moretz
Gabriel LaBelle (Saturday Night) and Isabela Merced (Alien: Romulus) are set to star alongside Chloë Grace Moretz in Dutch and Razzlekhana true-crime romance directed by BAFTA nominee Jon S Baird (Tetris). Originally, Lewis Pullman and Ariana DeBose were cast in these roles but had to step down due to scheduling conflicts. Production is scheduled to begin in New Jersey this January.
Inspired by the 2022 Business Insider article The $4.5 Billion Question by Rob Price and Becky Peterson, Dutch and Razzlekhan follows the incredible story of the world’s largest heist. It centers on Heather “Razzlekhan” Morgan (Moretz) and Ilya “Dutch” Lichtenstein (LaBelle), a millennial couple caught up in romance, hipster culture, and entrepreneurial ambitions. Merced will portray Carla Vargas, a skilled hacker who the FBI coerces into aiding the hunt for the duo.
The story follows Morgan and Lichtenstein’s attempt to launder over $4 billion in stolen cryptocurrency, leading to their arrest in 2022. Convicted in 2023, the pair awaits sentencing in November.
The screenplay for Dutch and Razzlekhan is written by Logan and Noah Miller. Producers include Feinstein, along with Mad Chance’s Andrew Lazar and David Fliegel. Executive producers are Logan Miller, Noah Miller, Baird, René Besson, and North.Five.Six’s Michael Rothstein and Samuel Hall.
LaBelle recently portrayed a young Lorne Michaels in Jason Reitman’s Saturday Nightcapturing the chaos of Saturday Night Live’s debut show, and gained attention as the young Spielberg stand-in in The Fabelmans. His other credits include Snack Shack, The Predatorand Showtime’s American Gigolo.
Merced, an emerging talent, has just wrapped Alien: Romulus and will appear as Kendra Saunders, aka Hawkgirl, in DC’s upcoming Superman film, as well as in The Last of Us Season 2.
