Dutch traveler finds home-like feeling in Haryana village, a unique example of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’

Guest Dev Bhava: Netherlands-based solo traveler Meek Hyman was on a rural trip to India when she had a unique experience in Haryana. During the journey she reached a village and asked an elderly woman working in a field if she could pitch her tent there for the night.

The elderly woman could not understand English, but instead of refusing Meek, she called her son Tushar Gujjar so that he could understand the conversation.

Desi family gave place to foreign woman

Meek hoped he would just be allowed to stay at the farm, but the family would not let him sleep outside. He insisted that he stay in his house only. Meek was given tea, served home-cooked food and given a place to rest.

He shared this entire experience in a video, which is now going viral on social media. In the video, Meek tells how a simple request turned into a beautiful evening and memorable meeting.
