Dwarka SUV Accident: of Delhi Dwarka The case of death of 23-year-old biker Sahil Dhaneshra in a tragic accident involving a speeding Mahindra Scorpio in the area has taken a new turn. A day after the accident, the 17-year-old accused juvenile was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), where the board’s observations made the matter more serious.

The board’s order noted that the accused minor showed no remorse over Sahil’s death. However, after 6 days, he was granted interim bail to appear in the Class 10 board exams, due to which this case has become a topic of discussion at both legal and social levels.

What did the Juvenile Justice Board say?

In the order passed on February 4, the board said, “On interrogating the 17-year-old minor who is in conflict with the law, it was found that he does not understand the importance of a person’s life and does not repent for his actions.” It was also recorded in the order that the teenager was sent to the monitoring house for the purpose of rehabilitation as well as to ensure his safety.

Why was interim bail granted?

On February 10, JJB granted interim bail to the accused teenager, allowing him to appear for the Class 10 board exams. He was instructed to surrender on March 9 after the examination was over. This relief was given after his lawyer argued that the environment of the observation home is not for studies and the boy will not be able to study there. Principal Magistrate Chitranshi Arora clarified that the board is aware of Kishore’s status as a student and his education should not be harmed.

What are the conditions and responsibilities of bail?

Under the interim arrangement, the teenager has been released under the supervision of his father on a personal bond of Rs 10,000 and one surety of the same amount. This relief will remain in effect till March 9, when the next hearing is scheduled. The board has also imposed strict conditions. The father will have to ensure that the juvenile appears before the Board as required. Also, during the interim period, he should not be involved in any kind of legal violation and should devote his time only to exam preparation.

When did the accident happen?

This accident happened on February 3, when Sahil Dhaneshra was on his bike. According to the police, a speeding SUV driven by the accused teenager hit them and then collided with a parked taxi. The taxi driver was also seriously injured in this collision. Investigation revealed that the minor did not have a driving license. After the incident, he was taken into custody and sent to the monitoring house.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) on charges of rash driving, causing death by negligence and endangering human life. Besides, the police have also detained the teenager’s father.
